Vaccination
We feel vaccination is an essential part of your pet’s healthcare and encourage regular vaccination of dogs, cats, horses and rabbits and can also assist with the routine vaccination of farm animals. Vaccination can provide protection against some of the major potentially fatal infectious diseases.
In young animals (puppies, kittens, baby rabbits and foals) or animals that have not received vaccination previously it will be necessary to begin a course of 2-3 injections to provide immunity. “Booster” vaccinations are then advised to maintain this immunity. We have a postal reminder system in place for dog, cat and horse vaccinations.
Dogs are routinely vaccinated against distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parainfluenza and parvovirus and additional vaccination against “kennel cough” is also available. Cats are routinely vaccinated against “cat flu” and infectious enteritis. Vaccination against leukaemia is also available. Rabbits can be vaccinated against viral haemorrhagic disease and myxomatosis. We can also vaccinate those pets requiring a PET passport with rabies vaccine. Horses are routinely vaccinated against flu and tetanus and we can now provide the new “strangles” vaccine.
